In late 2024 we got the call to produce a campaign for TCL featuring Justin Herbert — the Los Angeles Chargers quarterback and one of the most recognizable faces in the NFL. Here’s how we made it happen.
The Brief
TCL wanted a campaign that felt authentic to Herbert — not just an athlete holding a product, but a genuine moment that reflected his focus and drive. That brief guided every creative decision from location to camera movement.
Pre-Production
With a talent of Herbert’s profile, prep time is everything. We spent weeks in pre-production locking locations, coordinating with his team, and building a shot list that maximized our time on set. When you have a starting NFL quarterback in front of your camera, you don’t improvise.
On Set
The shoot itself was a full-crew day in Los Angeles. We ran multiple setups — controlled interior lighting for the product-forward moments, and more dynamic movement work to capture Herbert in his element. The crew was tight, the talent was locked in, and we got what we came for.
What struck everyone on set was how prepared Herbert was. He came in knowing the material, hit his marks, and brought real energy to every take. That’s the difference between working with great athletes and everyone else.
The Result
The finished campaign ran nationally for TCL — clean, cinematic, and true to the brief. It’s one of those projects that reminds you why brand film is the most exciting space in commercial production right now.
If you’re a brand looking to build something at this level, let’s talk.
