Most of what we do at Tigheland is controlled — meticulously planned, shot-listed, and refined across multiple days. Live television is the opposite of all of that. When we produced The Jimmy Dore Special, we got a masterclass in a completely different kind of production.

No Second Takes

In commercial production, if a take isn’t perfect, you shoot it again. In live television, the show moves whether you’re ready or not. Every camera operator, every director cut, every audio cue has to be right the first time. That pressure changes how you think, how you prepare, and how you perform on the day.

The Prep Work Is Everything

With live production, all the problem-solving happens before the cameras roll. You run through every scenario, every potential failure point, every timing question. By the time the show starts, the crew needs to be so prepared that instinct takes over. There’s no room for hesitation when you’re cutting live to air.

What It Taught Us

Every production discipline makes you better at all the others. The discipline and precision that live TV demands — knowing your shot, trusting your crew, making decisions in real time — those skills carry over into every commercial and brand film we make. Working on The Jimmy Dore Special made us a sharper production company.

If you’re planning a live event, broadcast, or hybrid production, we’d love to be involved.
